아버지를 가리키는 시리아말. 유대인들이 그리스말을 쓰기 시작했을 때에 이 말은 그리스말 파테르보다 발음하기 쉬워서 고대어에서 그대로 유지된 듯하며 특히 아이들이 이 말을 많이 쓴 것 같다. 이것은 특별히 아버지와 아이 사이의 사랑과 신뢰 등을 표현하는 데 많이 사용되었다(막14:36; 롬8:15; 갈4:6). 양자 삼음 참조.
